Vanderbilt basketball leads me to embarrass myself, and I don't care!

So last night I got home just as the first half of the Vandy-Auburn game was ending, and saw the 'Dores were up by 14. Good, I thought, my fears of Vandy choking in the SEC were just paranoia.

Ha. Ha ha ha fucking ha.

See, when you're a longtime Vandy fan you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop. One might argue that that's why it drops so frequently, because we're expecting it to...

Second half starts, and Vandy goes cold. So cold that they fall behind. I'm all over the place, I'm yelling at the TV, I'm calling my mom and demanding to know why they're still shooting the three when they haven't hit one all half (as if she knows), my landlords are probably wondering what the hell's going on...

...and Vandy manages to pull out the win by five points.

It was messy, but I don't care, because we're now off to the best start in school history!

And then today I checked ESPN.com's basketball section and the lead story was on Vandy (and the rest of the SEC, but that's just details). I started bouncing up and down in my chair doing a little happy dance that would have been ridiculously embarrassing had anyone been around to see it.
